Thursday night I headed out with Lucas and some of his friends. We climbed up Carbon Junction to Crites and then headed down Skull Rock and around extended south Rim. Had a great time, some fast riders in that pack.
Saturday Terry and I headed out for a Kennebec to Hermosa ride. Heather shuttled us to the top of Kennebec and then we started the long hike a bike journey up Indian Ridge (see photo: above).
After reaching the top we began our traverse along the Colorado Trail. While riding on the top of Indian Ridge the winds picked up a little bit and you could hear a whistle from the spokes as the wind whisked through them..pretty cool.
Eventually we reached the Big Bend trail which Terry had said he would like to do. The trail was in great shape and a lot of fun towards the top. Definately some trees down over the trail but it was gorgeous with tons of Aspen groves and some fun down hill. Eventually the trail turned into a steep grassy hill with route finding sketchy at points, lots of hike a bike due to this.
We reached Hermosa and at this point my body gave up. I felt horrible for the rest of the ride, Hermosa Creek was still enjoyable...on the downhills that is. Eventually we made it home...
36.8 mile ride. Not to shabby
I had promised Heather I would take her out to eat if she shuttled us up the hill. With our anniversary so close (tuesday) we decided to go to Sweeneys for some delicious food. A bottle of white zinfandel at dinner and a delicous Ska Double blonde once we got home finished the night perfectly.
